A few simple bugs fixed and options update for admin security added, just like the option to hide the brain tab button, you can now hide the last say folders and files, along with backtracing in the control panel with a new admin option in the options tab. Added the ability to disable downloading brain files to local machines in the option menu.

Some server had a problem with the subscription check at the start when the program loads, so a subscription check button has been added to the info tab.

Version 5.22 Details

Added a new brain button to clear the brain file completely, or load up the one of the three template brains which comes with the software.
The default starting guide is the first brain which automatically starts up for new users, and is the most advance brain file that comes with AIChat. The default guide brain holds a built in guide for itself, and is the most conversationally advanced to start with.
The simple hello template is a blank template which holds a mixture of hellos to help initiate conversations.
The nostalgia core template is a template of a modified core to be more like to original first version of AIChat.

More graphical updates for the new buttons being added, and an update to the graphics in the chatter menu, users, moderators and admins all have their own unique colour. Subscribers will have a star around them. Admin, mod, and sub are the tags given to the different people next to their names in the public chat.

Edited the extension to ".brain" because I heard somewhere it would more distinguish than ".sav" files more. This is shows that these files are different from user save files and option files. "brain.sav" has been changed to "quick save.brain". The download comes with a "default.brain" file, which is the default brain file that is loaded if there is no "quick save.brain". The ".sav" files from previous versions can still be loaded, the data is the same, only the name of the file is different.

A recycle folder was added in the last few update, which caused issues with deleting items as its was partially implemented. The recycle bin feature has been now been complete. Any files or folders deleted are moved to their own folder in the savefile called recycle. Backup saving is now better, displaying what the file name is when auto saving to the backup folder.

Small quick fix, the moderator controls were not assigned in the right place in the chatter menu, that is now corrected.

Small adjustments to the context editor which is used for following up on a question about itself, this element is the main thing still in beta from the self questioning system.

Fixed a small thing half implemented with the AI core reset, it would reset the context system, which is not saved and not needed yet.

Version 5.20 Details

Changed the save option to save on local machine to make it clearer about where it is saving, quick save can be used by anyone, but only makes a quick save on the servers machine, not on any client machines. Where the save button acted like a save button on a the local machine, on other machines it acts like a download button. Save on local machine allows people to download brain files from other peoples servers to run on their own server or offline chat.

A change server status button has been added to allow server hosts to change the status people see on the server list on the BYOND website, this will allow users to identify different servers easier.

The context editor changing the perspective of the conversation and is used after a question about itself is detected, although the question detection system is mainly complete, the self question detection system and the response system for that is still very much in the beta phase of development. To be specific, the context editor which handles the responses to the question "what do you think?" after something is unknown about itself is asked. The context editor edits the answer to the question "what do you think?" to change the perspective to itself is still in development. For example "you seem like your ok" becomes "i seem like im ok".

The new modified tag for brain files with modified AI cores will allow people to see if a brain file has its default AI core, or if a subscriber has modified the AI core. Currently a part of this is still in development and as each segment has been completed it has become available. The concept behind this part of the application is to open up the AI core detection and responses for users to edit, not only for creating interesting artificial character or more efficient learning machines, but also allowing other languages to create cores specifically for their countries language.

The restore default AI core button will remove the new modified save file status while restoring the default AI core. It is unknown if older save files are modified, all older save files before save file version 11 will be considered "modified", this can be corrected with the restore default AI core button.

Moderator controls have begun to be added, currently the server has server options for general users seeing the brain tab, adding new data, editing data, and deleting data. Moderators have been added with the same set of controls as the users for custom options under the options tab. The moderators and admins will now be able to right click a person in the chatter tab and find mod controls.

In the mod controls menu, admins and moderators will be able to boot people from the server, mute people in public chat, ban people teaching the AI, and banning people from editing and deleting files and folders.

Version 5.19 Details

Small fixes and an update to the admin system, you can now have multiple admins, the first person to join a hosted servers using the daemon will get admin controls, this has been designed for remote server users which do not have access to the server on a local network. This also applies after a reboot, the first person to log in after a reboot will get admin controls.

This was a quick update to allow a person willing to hosting a 24 / 7 server to quickly gain access to the admin controls, and will be refined a bit better later on.

Added a restore core AI button for restoring the core AI element of a brain files modified by subscribers, this restores the default detect and response system of the AI core.

Version 5.18 Details

New data has been added to the database details about backtracing information, how many back tracing links there are, how many characters there are and how much data it roughly takes up.

Adjusted the core AI to fix a bug miscalculating the number of times "okay" is said before double posting to keep the conversation alive has been fixed. When the AI does not know what to say to a statement it would respond with a return point folder, when a return point folder is said 2 times, it will pick something in one of the return point folders to say as a second post. The back tracing system has been tweaked for this because the conversation skips a beat for 1 message.

The ability to open folders, and to look at file details with the expand option when you right click a file or folder, now has been added to searching or looking in different view mode. The backtracing folder has been added the control tab. This is normally the 4th last thing said between you and the AI, and is used to keep track of where the conversation came from to hold conversational retention. This allow the AI to stay on topic.

Added the ability to adjust the day of the week bias towards what day the files was created to allow the AI to learn weekly routines, and added the ability to adjust the bias to files created in the same month, to allow the AI better understand yearly events better. Currently a file is 3 times more likely to be picked if created on the same day, and 5 times more likely to be picked if file is created in the same month. Backtracking has been adjusted to be 10 times more likely picked if backtracing data is detected in the file. The maximum value of the bias options has been raised to 25.

Version 5.17 Details

Elements of the new backtracing system has been tweaked to better improve learning, and buttons have been updated with this this new system in mind, and speed of responses have been improved by removing unneeded processes.

Improved backing up by adding auto saving to backup folder when files are saved or loaded in general, if you accidentally overwrite your quick save, you will be able to find the older save in the backup folder in savefile folder.

Released the interfaceless version on the download page, same AI output, same learning, no buttons, just chat. The AI auto saves every 10 mins and auto loads on start-up, this version can be hosted, but there is no user to user chat, only user to AI chat. Other users joining the server will be able to talk to and teach the AI save file. Just like the other AIChat programs, this versions converts older files up to version 9 save files.

Added lots more welcoming conversation and more questions into the default brain file to fish out more information about a general persons day to learn faster from the start. Reworked a lot of starting conversation with the new backtracing system. The default starting brain holds 1378 input folders and 1940 output files.

With a few results back about people with dyslexia finding it easier to read in the bronze interface, the bronze interface will like stay around for much longer.

A new bit of data has been added to the response files to trace back further in the conversation, this data give the AI an extra bias in responding to a person, this is to help better retain the conversation. When a back trace is added to a list in the response file, it uses that list to give the file a higher rating to be picked to respond with. While this gives the AI an extra bias to learn towards, it does not take away its inherent ability to give multiple response to the same input. Subscriber will have the ability to adjust the bias level between the AI being as random as it is originally or being more rigid and consistent in retaining conversation.

Version 5.15 Details

Small little tweaks have been done to the auto brain file update with the check file and merge file features. Parts of the process have been split apart into smaller sections for easier processor loads, the update process should freeze less and the display has been made clearer still, removing all the little errors in the text.

Added more user statistics about how many folder and files a person has created through chatting, showing a new level of contribution. Each original file and folder created now stores who created the file or folder. This is currently used mainly in the subscribers "Recent" tab.

The "Recent" tab has been added for subscriber to keep track of any new files and folders created, along with any edits made during the chatting or hosting sessions, when the server is shutdown or the application is closed, this is cleared. The "Search" feature for subscribers has been updated to also search for files.

The default brain file has been rolled back to a slightly earlier version and then updated with a guide to the new features it comes with. Many form of goodbyes have also been added to the default brain file.

Modified the interface just for this version to be pumpkin orange, and up until 11/11/2012 subscription features will be free to access for anyone hosting AIChat online. The ability to change the question detection system has been opened up to subscribers, you can add key words of phrases to detect if there is a question being asked.

Slight tweaks to the update save file feature to stop it crashing and to display more info on progress, viewing the brain tab while updating sometime causes crashes, so while updating the brain tab will now be inaccessible to avoid this crash.

Version 5.12 Details

The "AI Smart Update" button has been changed to the "Check Brain" button on the info tab, and auto checks a file is up to date. This button has been updated to include a few new performance improvements including removing of blank folders, and merging of duplicate folders. The speed of the update process has been improved with a clearer display of the update process in a percent. Multiple speed tests were run to find the most efficient time.

More server admin option were added, giving the server admin control over users viewing, editing and deleting the AI brain. An option has been added to also the admin control over users teaching the brain. The server admin is now displayed at the top of the chatter tab and can be more easily contact with the right click wisper command from there.

Added Subscription features which include merging two brain files together, a search feature and a ability to edit the core responses to unknown inputs.

Version 5.10 Details

Added an option tab and started moving some of the button to the options menu. These option were not saved before, like time between auto saves, and will now be saved in the savefile folder as options.sav.

A button has been added to the new options tab which fully hides the brain tab from general users that are logged in when the AI is being hosted on BYOND.

Messages of button presses were coming up globally to everyone in chat, when it should only be displayed to the user, this has now been corrected.

A big bug has been corrected with the AI chatters using the users conversation trackers, rather than its own. Currently only the server admin can create.

A hosting button has been added but has a slight bug. Sometimes it takes longer to connect to the central server, which causes an error. The time between connecting and checking will been made longer to avoid this message in the next version. Although it says, it is not connecting, you can always check if you are connected via the info tab.

Version 5.09 Details

Locks have been added to the all the brain editing functions to the online mode, only local hosts can access the brain when the AI is being hosted. When the lock is on, add folder, add file, edit, and delete will no longer be accessible to users, but you able to still teach the AI normally in the chat. Loading is permanently locked due to for server safety reasons. 

Added a editable countdown timer to the auto save function, this option allows you to edit how long it takes between auto saves, you can also turn of auto saving this way.

Tweaked the on off chat button to be slightly better for chat hosting of AIChat online, turning AI chat on will allow you to chat to the AI privately, turning AI chat mode off, allows you to chat to other people.

Added a lock to the loading buttons, so only the server IP can load files. You can now view people online under the chatter tab, it will also tell you if they are chatting to the AI or other humans. Right clicking a username in the chatter tab will allow you to wisper a person, even if they are chatting to the AI privately.

Using AIChat Nostalgia, you are able to create and edit AI brain files. With this script you will be able to load a brain file and bring NPC conversations to life.

This is attached to the default "say" procedure BYOND uses for normal chat functions, and can be activated on any "mob". The hearing range can be set manually, or it will use the default "world.view".

This small bit of script is the read only element apart of the original script for AIChat Nostalgia, without the learning element, so brain files created in AIChat Nostalgia that have been put into a game will not be overwritten by people.

Currently the game script is only able to handle one brain files, but in future versions the goal is to allow programmers to have multiple artificial intelligent brain files to be loaded at once. This will allow programmer to have multiple personalities in game on their none player characters, such as shopkeepers, villages, guards and wanderers.

Currently the AI only responds to human users talking, but further development will likely see that the none player characters conversing with other none player characters in the future.

Nostalgia Version 1.05 Details

All of the original workings of the first version, with the added extras features of version 5. A hybrid between the original file system and the new AI core, this version is able to convert older and newer files save files to this version, including the recent version 5 files.

One of the newer features version 5 include, the question detection system, the version 5 control panel with all the buttons, and the chatter system. All view modes up to version 5.07 are also included.

You are able to keep track of the last 3 things said between you and the AI. Another feature from version 5. This helps to edit the conversation in motion.

Version 5.07 Summery

• Further improvements to the question detection system.

Version 5.07 Details

Further improvements have been made to the questions detection system as a few questions without question marks were slipping through the name. Previously the do and dont were being ignored, for example "why dont you...?" or "why do you do...?", these are now detected.

To stop the artificial intelligence from spiraling down in angry hate filled conversation, some basic insults have been added with calmer responses, as not to anger the user back into insulting the artificial intelligence more, teaching it more anger and hate, which is a very common problem in more artificial intelligent chat bots.

When the brain file gets to large it starts to warn the user of possible infinity loops, this has been corrected by moving all these process to the background. There is no infinity loops in the artificial intelligence's code, but searching long lists can bring up this error.

Added a new view mode, return point folder view. When chatting the word "ok" is used a lot, and tends to be start and end point of a small conversation, the AI uses and tracks this, especially with learning unknown conversations. This is normally where topics change and questions are asked. There are currently 4 return point folders, "k", "ok", "okay" and "right".

Changed the rate which information is sent to the process per second, this changes the update rate of the control panel. With many files in view the control panel can start to lag out the rest of the program. As the update per second has dropped, the program will have a lot less lag. The refresh rate of the control panel will now be every half of a second, rather than every tenth of a second.

The default "brain.sav" file has been updated since the last version, increasing from 585 folders to 875 folders for inputs, and 964 file to 1297 for outputs, the number of characters entered went from 35249  to 92586. This brain file update handles questions about its newer features, and has a bit more general chat.

Version 5.06 Details

There has been a slight change to the to the "i dont know" phrases to ask if the person now know. The smart question detection system allow the AI to understand what is being said to it lot better now, question or statements, this smart detection system allows it to learn a lot more faster. By returning the question back if it not understood, it is able to try get an answer right away if the other person know. small phrases not understood yet by the AI are also questioned back to find out more.

A major update in the brain file loading element of the AI and the way it handle older brain file from previous versions before v5. This update fixes a number of problems with the load button in general from the last update. Quick loading older brain file using the quick load button was broken, and loaded the normal brain instead, this bug has been fixed. The normal load button did not work before, but now works, this can also be used load older brain files. Quick save and quick load still worked for "brain.sav" files for previous versions just fine.

Auto file update and the Update AI Smart button now shows information much clear than before, and is a lot less bulky on the CPU, you will be able to see the information much clearer in motion as it is updated. A display has been added to the top of the control panel of what file is loaded into the AI.

Version 5.05 Summery

Version 5.05 Details

Updated the loading system to automatically detect the older brain file format in the "savefile" folder and now gives an option to load this file up, this was added for ease of use because some people did not know how to change the ".brain" extension to ".sav" on their system, the default file that is loaded at the startup is "brain.sav" from the "savefile" folder. If you press the quick load button and if it detects the old "default.brain" format, it will now ask if the person "do you want to load the older file?". From there you can choose to save it, clicking quick save will overwrite the current default "brain.sav" file. "Save as" and "Load" have been added along side quick load and quick save, and the old file formats are accepted no matter the extension. 

An old bug since the first version has been fixed, when a person creates a file or folder with no name, it creates an object which can not be accessed at all, the object becomes no longer clickable, unable to be accessed or deleted. 

Added a new view mode, question folder view, this was created from the built in question detection system from the last update. This will allow you to view only the questions asked to the AI this is for easier access on checking what the AI would ask and filling in the answers. Question detection has been refined down a bit better to allow for better detection of questions. A few things were flagging up as questions, that were actually statements, these small things have been correct.

The machine code which the computer reads was slightly misaligned, it would not effect the reading and writing of the chat bot to much in previous versions, and was a very minor bug, now corrected. It also converts some words down to a word with the same meaning, for example "hey", "hello" and "hi" mean the same, just like "yeah", "yep", and "yes", this allows for the machine to understand better what is being said.

Also added new information to the database details button to clear up unknown statistics, I have also added a few more statistics to help display and overview of the brain file in the memory. A bit more information has also been added to the info tab.

Slowly growing the default "brain.sav" file, having a total 520 folders to calculate input and 888 file for output, having 31186 characters. This brain file update handles questions asked about the buttons and the features in the AI program, so it can literally be its own guide when talking to it. Version 5.04 Details

The last 3 things said between you and the AI will now be tracked in the "Control" tab in the panel over the right side of the window. You will be able to add, edit, delete, and force say the visible files and folders in this area of the window. and you will still be able to edit the weight of each file. This feature was in the last version, but was not fully implemented, now this feature is more completed.

A small list of things have been added to help detect if a question if being asked, simple words like "who", "what", "where" and "how" have been added along with the original "?" question mark in the detection process to give the right response when a question is ask but is not in the brain file yet. This was added because sometimes a "?" question mark would be missed.

By lowering the CPU threshold of the brain save file updating, the application wont freeze up as much, displaying more movement in updating. Larger files would freeze up the applications, lowering the CPU threshold means a little slower updating a file, but less freezing up.

Added easier ways to see the current version you have running in a startup screen in the chat window and an info tab, along with all the information on where to find updates and further information on what is happening in development.

Updated the AI core to respond to questions with unknown answer, it will say the usual "i dont know" but it will now use the next line to search for an answer, if you know the answer and enter it, it will learn it from that. What happens in the AI core is that the last thing you said will become the last thing the AI said when it does not know.

Version 5.03 Details

Small interface bug was fix, where the "New Input Folder" button didn't work, in the older versions of 5.00 you are still able to create new folders by right clicking on a already existing folder after typing in chat to create the first folder, and this was the preferred method.

Added a slight tweak to the AI core when dealing with unknown ways of responding, by responding with "i dont know" to questions with no know answers, and to question small unknown phrases or words, by adding a question mark to the end and returning it, both these adjustments are to help increase learning.

Trained more phrases for learning into the default brain save file, asking to learn more on random subjects, such as science and history, on top of the already existing normal "hello" and "how are you?" conversational startups. Asking more for information will help it gain more information early on.

A new auto load on startup feature has been added, this auto load feature will also use the new auto brain file update system, to make sure everything is up to date and running smoothly. An are you sure window for the "Quick Save" and the "Quick Load" button has been added to remove accident. The auto save back up system will now save a separate file automatically every 15 min into a backup folder in the save file.

A new blue interface has been added to make the application look smarter and easier on the eyes, the interface is now better arranged for viewing more files and folders at once, also seeing further back into the chat history at once. Being arranged vertically gives more room to show more information in both the chat window and the tabbed control panel where the folders and files are viewed.
